Questo splendido volume propone all’attenzione del mondo ornitologico moderno uno dei padri dell’ornitologia sicula, il Canonico palermitano Baldassarre Palazzotto (1777-1858) che, quasi 200 anni fa compilò un elenco delle specie di uccelli presenti in Sicilia con numerose informazioni sulle abitudini ed i periodi di presenza. Purtroppo, questo manoscritto non fu pubblicato e forse anche per questo la figura del Palazzottto è rimasta ingiustamente poco nota nell’ambiente ornitologico...

This splendid volume brings to the attention of the modern ornithological world one of the fathers of Sicilian ornithology, the Palermo-born Canon Baldassarre Palazzotto (1777-1858), who, almost 200 years ago, compiled a list of the bird species present in Sicily with a wealth of information on their habits and periods of occurrence. Unfortunately, this manuscript was not published and perhaps for this reason the figure of Palazzottto has remained unjustly little known in ornithological circles...
