Authors

A research on Ptarmigan, Lagopus mutus, is presented, based on occasional observations collected from 1984 to 2007 and spring censuses for the years 2005 and 2006 in a suitable sample area, according to the methods described in literature. Data refer to random sightings (observations, vocalizations, faeces); spring censuses were geo-referenced and analyzed using a geographic information system (Grass 6.2, ArcView 3.2). The application of an altitudinal model of terrain allowed us to assign to each animal contacted the value of the altitude, exposure and slope inclination.
