It is well known that the Braidense Library in Milan was one of the few, perhaps the only one, of the Italian peninsula to have in good time purchased the volumes of the Voyage aux Régions Équinoxiales du Nouveau Continent, fait en 1799, 1800, 1802, 1803 et 1804 (Paris, 1835-1834) that the famous Prussian naturalist-explorer Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was gradually writing after returning from his expedition to Central and South America (1799-1804)....
