A comprehensive taxonomic revision of the stag beetle genus Pseudorhaetus Planet 1899 (Coleoptera: Lucanidae) is presented. The Taiwanese subspecies Pseudorhaetus sinicus concolor Benesh 1960 is to be considered morphologically conspecific with the mainland Chinese P. sinicus sinicus (Boileau 1899), leading to the new synonymy: Pseudorhaetus sinicus (Boileau 1899) = P. sinicus concolor Benesh 1960, syn. nov. Furthermore, comparative analysis supports the synonymy of the monotypic genus Weinreichius Lacroix 1978 and genus Yumikoi Arnaud & Miyashita 2006 with Pseudorhaetus (syn. nov.), resulting in the new combination Pseudorhaetus perroti (Lacroix 1978) (comb. nov.) and Pseudorhaetus makii (Arnaud & Miyashita 2006) (comb. nov.). An updated catalogue and identification key for Pseudorhaetus are also provided.
